The Pampeña Arequipeña is a traditional folk dance derived from the Andean Huayno dance. The Pampeña is a type of dance from Arequipa. The south area of Arequipa was known in the past as La Pampa because of its plain and extensive terrain, consequently the citizens from La Pampa were called pampeños, which influenced the name of the dance.
